I enjoyed Carcosa, it is similar enough to Carcassonne to not be awkward, but adds enough new mechanics to standalone, imho.

It's very very different to Isle of Skye, there is no auction and the game is played on one map (like Carcassonne)!

I have heard a German version is set to hit Spieleschmiede in a few days.

This didn't mean that Carcosa is a copy of Isle of Skye. It means that Carcosa is also based on Carcassonne like Isle of Skye.

There's no denying it's a tile laying game very much like Isle of Skye. It is probably more like Carcassonne than IoS is.

While writing the review I wrote about some of the key differences in more detail. I may post them up if you're interested.

Hi Konrad, Hope I can help.
There are some pictures in my review on Carcassonne Central and the following paragraph explains how the City Tiles score and work:

Districts (Cities)
Districts score points towards the ritual, just like in Carcassonne (2-points per tile).
Some Districts contain ‘theatres’ which allow a player to recruit an additional meeple into their supply.

You start with a limited hand of 5-meeple but you can recruit up to 3 more by completing Districts with theatres.

I was asked by the publisher to test their solo-rules. I did not think it would work well at all, but I was able to make some recommendations which the designer took on board. The end result is quite an interesting puzzle!

btw: is there a way to make images inside img-tag smaller?

Da muss ich zustimmen, diese Formen verleiten mich, sofort darüber nachzudenken, welche Erweiterungen man für Carcassonne wohl daraus herstellen könnte.
Ganz im Gegensatz dazu die Landschaftsplättchen: wenig inspirierende Graphik, unansehnlich dunkel und die abgeschnittenen Ecken sorgen nur für Löcher in der Auslage. Ist nicht mein Ding, das Spiel. Da stimmt schon die Optik nicht.
