Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
Hi kettlefish,
Hopefully it will be fast. It's encourgaging to hear that Scott was able to do a back up before it crashed. Hopefully everything will be intact.

The next e-mail contact between me and Scott:
my e-mail to Scott:
my e-mail to Scott:
the reply from Scott:Hi Scott,
is Gantry on a business trip (like always) or is it a big problem to repair (to make it visible) the forum?
At CarcC facebook wrote Thomas Beckingham:
"I'm still unable to access the forums from the website, but I can access it and post to it from tapatalk. bizarre"
Scott, what does that mean?
Gantry is around, but he's having trouble figuring out the solution.
Tapatalk is an app for smartphones that people can use to browse the forums.

Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
I wrote again a long e-mail to Scott today.
I thing we need him here at CarcF for talking as long as CarcC is not working.
It is not a pleasure for me to give you all only information from Scott
by "quote".
I prefer if he would talk to the members directly.
But he is not yet a member here at CarcF.
There are 46-50 members in both forums.
That is around 30% from the members at CarcF.
And that is around 10% from the members at CarcC.

I've got an answer from Scott:
Here comes a part of that e-mail:
Here comes a part of that e-mail:
And the rest of information - he can tell you later....I agree that CarcC and CarcF are on the same side. I will sign up at CarcF later today.
Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
Hello everyone. In this particular case I must take entirely the blame for the forum being down. I was doing the monthly maintenance and did some steps in the wrong order. I am communicating with support to find out how to fix the problem, and Gantry is helping me because I am not able to do anything during working hours. Today we made what looks like a tiny bit of progress, but it is still not working yet. Gantry and I are both away this weekend, so I don't expect it will be fixed until at least early next week.
Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
Do you have a backup from the forum?
Then it is easy. ;)

We restored the backup but it is still not working, and now support says they cannot help.

Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
Hi Scott,
CarcF - as far as I know Maik has a second PC (in the background) and there he has a copy of our forum software installed. Also he has a copy of the database.
When Maik is testing "new" components for the forum, then he is testing it at the second PC in the background.
CarcC - My question to you is, does the forum software work at your "home" PC in the background? Or is the problem only at the server in the www.?
Sorry, I have not much knowledge about this sort of technical things...
Here at CarcF we have our Co-Admin - mentor09 - he is computer scientist and knows much about programming, software and the technique.

Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
Interesting, the www. don't find CarcassonneCentral.
The old and the new forum are out off the world wide web.
The admins are working to repair our CarcC.

Re: CarcassonneCentral Forum
I would like to post good news, but tech support has completely abandoned me and I have no idea what is causing the problem.
Marion suggested that I should talk about the surprise packages that are being sent out. I'm not allowed to say what is inside, but I think those who have the privilege to receive one will be very happy. It is a gift from us (Maik, Marion, myself, and the good people at HiG) to people who have made significant contributions to the Carcassonne community. Without all of you, there wouldn't be a community.

Update from Gantry:
My admin hasn’t sent me the backups yet as the restore can take a heckuva long time (cloud restore = slow) but I’ll work on it soon as I get it. I will be away Sat and most of Sunday tho, but can continue Sun nite if it doesn’t come back today.
